Four times a year, the Spencer Foundation takes applications for small research projects and pilot studies in any aspect of education. Eleni Courea gets some top tips for first-time applicants from Amy Dray, the foundation’s programme officer.
The Spencer Foundation’s Small Research Grants scheme runs alongside its larger Lyle Spencer Research Awards (profiled here) in the foundation’s “field-initiated” grants category—similar to the UK research councils’ responsive-mode grant proposals.
The foundation prides itself on its broad remit, and it has funded research from a variety of disciplines including psychology, sociology, economics, history and anthropology with its small grants.
