Will the government fund my research?

Worried about not winning public funding because your research doesn’t fit with the ideology of the government of the day? Don’t worry, there are plenty of other ways a government can scupper funding, as the Research Whisperer Jonathan O’Donnell explains in his latest column for Funding Insight ANZ.

Sometimes researchers worry that a grant application will not be successful because it does not align with a particular ideology or a particular policy direction of the government of the day.

Researchers from my part of the university, perhaps more than most, have a right to be worried about government interference in research granting processes.
