Opportunity profile: The AHRC’s German connection

UK researchers can bid for up to £350,000 for bilateral research projects in the first call from the AHRC’s agreement with Germany's largest public research funder, the DFG. Antoaneta Roussi speaks to Emily Bultitude at the AHRC.

Emily’s top tips

  • While projects must have a research focus, networking activities can be included on the bid.
  • There is no theme for the call, but the research should fall squarely within the council’s remit.
  • Bids should demonstrate the added value that a collaboration will bring to the applicants’ research.
  • The AHRC and the DFG have subtly different eligibility criteria—check direct with them if in doubt.

The UK-German Funding Initiative in the Humanities is open to applications for research projects within the arts and humanities that involve UK and German-based researchers working in collaboration.
