The Padi Foundation takes the plunge with marine research projects other funders might refuse
Next year, marine biology funder the Padi Foundation will celebrate its 30th year of distributing grants to early career researchers looking to kick-start small projects. Its annual Research Grants scheme usually closes early in the year and 2021 will be no different, with the deadline on 15 January.
In October 2019, Andy Saxon, a director at the foundation, related what it looks for on bids, and also explained the foundation’s penchant for unusual research. “If it seems outlandish,” he said, “we will listen to it.”
