The UK government revealed details of its drive to cut “unnecessary” red tape in R&D as it launched several major reviews into bureaucracy in research funding, including at UK Research and Innovation and the National Institute for Health Research. The announcement on 10 September said officials are “concerned by a major growth in bureaucracy” in research and teaching, and promised “a substantial reduction in bureaucracy to help focus on what really matters”.
