The Installation Grant that helped develop genomics facilities in Estonia

Embo Installation Grants offer €50,000 annually for three to five years. The call is open to early career researchers seeking to establish life sciences research programmes in host countries that are underrepresented by the organisation’s funding programmes overall. In the 2021 call, grants were available to applicants applying from the Czech Republic, Estonia, Lithuania, Montenegro, Poland, Portugal and Turkey.

The funding can be spent on setting up laboratories, for instance resources and equipment, and grantees can apply for additional grants of up to €10,000 each year. Grantees also gain access to a wider international network of former and current Embo grant winners through the Embo Young Investigators, Installation Grantees and Global Investigators programmes.
