How Switzerland’s AO Foundation supports the development of tools and services for surgeons

The AO Foundation is a Swiss nonprofit organisation that funds research and development in the surgical treatment of bone fractures and related disorders and of products to help in surgical education. It prides itself on supporting products from bench to bedside with the support of a network of over 215,000 health care professionals which, the foundation says, includes 20,000 surgeons in the fields of trauma, spine, craniomaxillofacial, veterinary, and reconstructive surgery.

The foundation’s Strategy Fund offers grants to support research and development of early-stage clinical tools for musculoskeletal disorders, and also educational tools for surgeons. The current round is open now and closes on 31 July.
