My winning proposal: The benefits of getting out and about

Finding the sweet spot between field research, co-creation and impact with the AHRC

Top tips

  • Think about ways to go out and meet research subjects rather than having them come to you.
  • Reviewing other people’s bids is the best way to learn how to write a bid.
  • Make sure your bid is comprehensible to someone not familiar with your area of research.
  • Talk to as many organisations as possible when looking for project partners and remember that other contributions can be more valuable than money.

The Arts and Humanities Research Council has a rolling call for Standard Research Grants year-round. These support collaborative research projects that cost between £50,000 and £1 million. An AHRC early career research grant for smaller projects, with funding of up to £250,000, is also available via the scheme.
