Opportunity profile: UKRI looks to boost local growth

Four-year, £20 million programme launches to deepen research ties to regions

UK Research and Innovation’s Local Policy Innovation Partnerships (Lpips) programme seeks to address local and regional issues that influence inclusive and sustainable economic growth.

The programme–led by the Economic and Social Research Council, Arts and Humanities Research Council and Innovate UK—will run in two phases. In phase one, UKRI will fund up to 10 projects for five months that will develop relationships with partners and perform early evidence analysis. Of these projects a minimum of three will be selected for phase two when they will carry out activities in partnership with local actors and policymakers for 36 months. Throughout phases one and two, a strategic coordination hub will build links between the Lpips and with national initiatives and institutions.
