The Gerda Henkel Foundation is an international funder with a straightforward approach
“I recommend it to almost all my students and friends looking for funding in history,” Karin Friedrich, a professor in early modern history at the University of Aberdeen, said of the Gerda Henkel Foundation in this article published in May 2020.
Friedrich won a small General Research Grant from the organisation in 2017 to support her work on 17th-century central European history. The foundation is open to bids of less than €25,000 (£22,200) to its General Research Grants scheme year-round. For sums greater than that, there are two deadlines each year, with the next on 17 May.
