Six-time winner of an award to disseminate medical research findings beyond academia discusses the scheme

Top tips

  • The impact of the dissemination activities you plan must be evaluated within the project.
  • Stay open to and accommodate your target group’s sensitivities and ways of working.
  • Be cognizant of requirements of learning activities from accreditation and learned societies.
  • Contingency planning is a must.
  • Select your partners carefully and don’t underestimate the power of a strong letter of support.

The Medical Research Foundation’s Changing Policy and Practice Award exists to allow MRF and Medical Research Council grant winners the opportunity to disseminate their findings beyond the scientific peer-reviewed press, and increase the impact of their research with patients, healthcare practitioners and policy makers.
