Horizon Europe pilot scheme participants describe their experiences

On 21 September, Marc Lemaître, the European Commission’s top research and innovation official, said that the EU wants half of its R&I programme’s funding to be delivered using the lump-sum mode from 2027, up from about 5 per cent today.

With lump-sum funding, grant winners are given predefined amounts when they are judged to have achieved certain milestones in their projects, rather than being reimbursed for costs retrospectively.
