Opportunity profile: Piloting paediatric disease research

The European learned society’s small grants can start big things

Top tips

  • Eligibility requirements are quite strict; applicants must be society members in good standing.
  • Applicants must have a primary role in the research they propose.
  • Clarity, especially in methodology, and feasibility are highly valued.
  • Applicants are scored on their CV, so this needs to shine.

The European Society for Paediatric Infectious Diseases’ Small Grant Awards serve a double purpose. First, they allow clinicians and scientists with novel ideas to get support to gather pilot data for further external funding. Second allow early career researchers to get a first grant under their belt to help them move forward in their careers.
