Not all impact is welcome. The research of João Florêncio won the attention of a section of the media recently after his project—The Europe that Gay Porn Built, 1945-2000—which won a Standard Research Grant from the Arts and Humanities Research Council, was top of a list of projects plucked from the UK Research and Innovation awards database by journalist Charlotte Gill.
