Working with the Indian Institute of Science

Jim Woodcock, professor of software engineering at the University of York, has worked with Indian computer scientists since 2009. Here he shares his experience of the British Council’s UKIERI scheme and his advice for others looking to forge links with peers in India.

In 2008, the vice-chancellor of the University of York at the time, Brian Cantor, led a research expedition to the Indian Institute of Science in Bangalore, and took with him members of various departments. I was the representative from computer science.
