Wellcome Trust invites researchers to Hub event

The Wellcome Trust will host a series of talks on 6 March about its funding call to create an interdisciplinary researcher residency known as the The Hub.

The competition, announced on 17 January, will provide £1 million for a group of up to five researchers from various fields to use resources at the Wellcome Collection, which is based in London.

The afternoon at the trust’s London headquarters will feature stories from scientists, researchers and artists who collaborate already, plus Wellcome employees, who will describe what the trust’s collections can offer applicants. Attendees will also be able to have individual sessions with Wellcome staff to talk about their ideas.

People who cannot make the meeting will be able to watch edited talks some time afterwards. Nils Fietje, medical humanities adviser at the Wellcome Trust, says:

We've thought about the idea of streaming it live but we think it's unlikely people will stream it for the whole four hours, so we decided against it. So we will record the event and edit it, so people can watch specific sections.

The registration deadline for the event is 19 February.
