The chief executive of Universities UK has been appointed as the first chief executive of the Office for Students.
Nicola Dandridge will leave the vice-chancellors group on 1 September, after eight years at the helm.
She joins Michael Barber, a former education advisor to Tony Blair, who has been confirmed as the chairman of the new English regulator, which replaces the Higher Education Funding Council for England and the Office for Fair Access.
