The metric on grade inflation in the next Teaching Excellence Framework may take the form of an institutional self-declaration combined with Higher Education Statistics Agency data, TEF chairman Chris Husbands has said.
In an interview with HE, Husbands said that “there is a little bit more work to be done” to turn the decision to create the metric, which universities minister Jo Johnson announced on 7 September, into a specification.
The metric could take the form of an institutional self-declaration cross-referenced with information drawn from the Higher Education Statistics Agency, he said.
