OfS confirms second delay in registering providers

The Office for Students has for the second time missed its deadline for processing scores of applications from institutions that want to become officially registered providers of higher education.

However, the OfS has passed some of the blame back to institutions, saying that many applications were sub-standard.

In October, the regulator admitted that it had failed to achieve its aim of making the majority of decisions on applications from institutions wanting to join the OfS register by September. At the time, the OfS said it hoped to provide a decision “by the end of October for all those who applied by 23 May”.
