Universities must embrace digital learning beyond sharing lectures online in order to attract more people to engineering, a skills body has claimed.
The National Centre for Universities and Business said that a broad set of skills, including digital literacy, was missing from apprenticeships and degrees.
“If the UK is to thrive in a technology-dominated future with real global competitiveness, online tools need to be embraced in education more effectively than simply putting lectures online,” the NCUB wrote in its report Talent 2050: Skills and education for the future of engineering.
