Gavin Williamson sets out priorities for regulator and confirms grant reduction
Education secretary Gavin Williamson has written to the Office for Students to confirm a cut in its teaching grant allocation next year, and to re-state the areas on which he wants England’s regulator to focus.
In a letter dated 1 January, published by the Office for Students on 9 January, Williamson says that the OfS will receive £1.48 billion in teaching grant money in 2020-21, down by 0.5 per cent from £1.49 billion last year. The allocation was £1.54 billion in 2018-19.
