Russell Group: complaints are ‘crude indicator’ of standards

Mission group calls for student complaints to be left out of quality and standards consultation

The Russell Group has urged the Office for Students not to use student complaints to judge a university’s quality and standards, labelling it a “crude indicator” outside an institution’s control.

In its response to the OfS’s consultation on plans for “more challenging” regulation on quality and standards, the research-intensive Russell Group said it was “concerned about the proposals to use student complaints as a way of determining quality and standards”.
