Regulating the reforms

The state should separate funding from regulation, a report suggests.

Unless a new regulator is created, it will become ever harder to ensure that higher education in England is well run, according to a report published today.

“The Future of Higher Education Regulation” by Roger Brown of Liverpool Hope University and Bahram Bekhradnia of the Higher Education Policy Institute, says the operating framework announced by the government in July “falls well short of what will be required”.
