Pensions dispute escalates

Trade union starts marking boycott and threatens further action for universities that dock pay.

More than a million students could be affected by an assessment boycott that starts today, following the failure of talks on proposed changes to staff pensions.

Staff at 69 of the UK’s oldest universities will participate in the action launched by the University and College Union. They will not set coursework, give formal marks and feedback, or allow students to undertake exams.
