Three unions tell members to reject employers’ final pay offer

Unison, Unite and the Education Institute of Scotland have told their members to reject a final pay offer from employers for next year, with Unison labelling the increase “inadequate”.

Negotiations between the Universities and Colleges Employers Association (Ucea) and five staff unions—Education Institute of Scotland, the GMB, Unison, Unite and the University and College Union—ended on 30 April with a final pay offer from Ucea. Ucea said its offer would give staff at 146 UK institutions a pay rise between 1.8 per cent and 3.65 per cent.

Unison, Unite and the Education Institute of Scotland are recommending that their members reject the deal, while the UCU is still discussing the offer with members.
