Whistleblower plans to attend USS board meeting

Jane Hutton, who has been suspended from the Universities Superannuation Scheme’s trustee board since June, has said that she plans to be in attendance by telephone at Thursday’s board meeting.

HE has learned that Hutton, a professor of statistics at the University of Warwick and a USS non-executive board member nominated by the University and College Union, plans to phone in to the next board meeting on 12 September. Hutton’s solicitor sent an email to the USS on 6 September that has not yet received a response.

Hutton was suspended from the USS board in June. She says that she has not received a satisfactory explanation for her suspension but suspects that it is related to her request for information to assist in the valuation of the pension fund.
