Julia Buckingham welcomes greater transparency on senior staff pay

The president of Universities UK has defended the rewards on offer to “truly remarkable” vice chancellors, while saying that “massive hikes” in pay are generally inappropriate.

In an exclusive interview with Research Professional News, Julia Buckingham welcomed steps taken by universities to ensure the work of the committees that set vice chancellor pay was more transparent, and to explain salary decision processes.
