AdvanceHE: universities misjudging access challenge

Research project highlights need for more resources to tackle participation for underrepresented students

Universities have been warned that if they want to make “radical” changes to help improve access for students quickly they will need to put aside more time and resources, following a scheme run by the higher education agency AdvanceHE in which most institutions failed to make as much progress as expected.

The two-year project on how to improve access for under-represented student groups revealed that many participating institutions did not meet their targets set at the beginning of the scheme.
