University College London picks Australian vice-chancellor as next president

University College London has appointed University of Sydney vice-chancellor Michael Spence as its next president and provost.

Spence will take over from current provost Michael Arthur in January 2021, when he will step down after seven years in post. Spence said he was “thrilled” to be joining UCL, which he said has “an important role in a time of great change for the UK and wider world”.
