Government urged to redefine value for money in higher education
Using graduate earnings to measure value for money has “serious limitations” and the government should instead use broader measures such as wider social benefits, according to Universities UK president Julia Buckingham.
Speaking at higher education agency Advance HE’s Let’s Talk Value conference in London on 11 February, Buckingham said the recent debate around how to define value for money for students had “lacked nuance” and “failed to understand” that students are motivated by more than salaries.
