University of Portsmouth freezes redundancy consultation due to coronavirus outbreak

A staff redundancy scheme at the University of Portsmouth has been postponed following growing pressure to halt cuts during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The University of Portsmouth had been gearing up to make eight of its 13 members of staff in the English Literature department redundant by the end of August, before the coronavirus pandemic forced universities to shut down buildings and move teaching online.
