University of Oxford college sets out details of Rhodes statue inquiry
University of Oxford’s Oriel College has released details of its inquiry into its statue of Victorian imperialist Cecil Rhodes, following widespread calls during the Black Lives Matter protests for it to be taken down.
Carole Souter, master of St Cross College at the University of Oxford, will chair the inquiry, with Coventry University chancellor Margaret Casely-Hayford and William Beinart, former Rhodes professor of race relations at Oxford, joining as commissioners.
