More than 1,400 students stranded after bomb detonation

Many University of Exeter students expect to return to halls of residence within 24 hours

More than 1,400 students at the University of Exeter are still waiting to return to their halls of residence after an unexploded second world war bomb was detonated by the army and police at the weekend.

The one-tonne bomb, discovered near the University of Exeter on 26 February during building work, was detonated at 6.10pm on 27 February after more than 2,000 homes and 1,400 students were evacuated.
