Soas director to ‘step aside’ during racism investigation

Adam Habib hands over day-to-day running of Soas to deputy director Claire Ozanne

Adam Habib will “step aside” as director of Soas University of London for the duration of an investigation into anti-Black sentiment at the institution, set up after he used a racial slur during a webinar last week.

In a statement on 18 March, chair of the board of trustees at Soas, Marie Staunton, said Habib would stand aside “while this investigation takes place, so as not to compromise the investigation”.
