Clear majority of UCU members at midlands university back industrial action

University and College Union members at the University of Leicester have voted to strike in a dispute over compulsory redundancies.

Some 70 per cent of members who voted said they were willing to take strike action, with 84 per cent backing action short of a strike. Turnout in the ballot was 56 per cent, meaning it has passed the legal threshold required for action to be taken.
