‘Plausible’ university applications affected A-level results

Some 2020 A-level grades could have been influenced by predicted grades as part of process

University applications could have determined some centre-assessed A-level grades last year, the exams watchdog has found.

In an analysis of A-level grades from 2020, Ofqual argued that university applications represented a “plausible influence” on results. “It is plausible that for the subset of students applying for university, CAGs [centre-assessed grades] may have been influenced by the predicted grades already produced by teachers for Ucas applications,” it wrote.
