Figures reveal huge scale of cyber-attacks on Student Loans Company

The Student Loans Company was hit by almost 5.5 million email attacks last year, a Freedom of Information request has revealed.

In 2019 the SLC—which provides funding for more than 1.3 million students—suffered 5,445,273 email attacks according to data obtained by legal firm Griffin Law. Of those, the SLC’s email quarantine system caught 5,415,960 attempted attacks, while its attack detection software blocked 10,125 malware probes and 19,188 phishing attempts.
