More than three-quarters of the offers made to UK 18-year-olds by three universities in England last year were “unconditional”, meaning that the pupils were guaranteed a place regardless of how they performed in their A levels.
According to an HE analysis of the UCAS End of Cycle Report, the final two chapters of which were published today, 83.8 per cent of the offers handed out to school leavers by the University of Suffolk last year were unconditional, the highest proportion in the country.
Some 78.8 per cent of offers made to 18-year-olds by York St John University were unconditional, followed by the University of Bolton with 75.7 per cent.
