The current Brexit upheaval will lead to “unprecedented opportunities” for universities working to secure a better deal for international students, according to one higher education expert, as the government is expected to make fresh announcement on Tier 4 visas.
Speaking at a conference in London on 15 November, Vivienne Stern, director of international university body Universities UK International, said that despite “slightly dark times” in British politics, Brexit had forced international students higher up the government’s agenda.
Earlier in the day both Brexit secretary Dominic Raab and work and pensions secretary Esther McVey resigned from government over the draft Brexit withdrawal agreement.
