Universities minister pledges to increase international education exports from £18 billion in 2012 to £30 billion by 2020.
Jo Johnson has promised to increase internationalisation in his first speech as universities minister.
Addressing delegates at the British Council’s Going Global conference, he said that the UK “must do more to prepare [itself] for the globalised world”. He said government would build on outward mobility programmes such as Erasmus and the Generation UK initiative that sends students to India and China to “improve student employability and support UK ties overseas”.
