The Teaching Excellence Framework will include a new metric to tackle the grade inflation that is “ripping through” English universities, according to Jo Johnson, the UK’s universities and science minister.
Speaking at the Universities UK annual conference on 7 September, Johnson announced the new supplementary metric as part of a number of changes to the TEF.
These included reducing the weighting of the National Student Survey by half and adapting the assessment procedure for providers with large numbers of part-time students.
