The Office for Students registration process could be reviewed after experiencing “a few bumps on the road” recently, universities and science minister Sam Gyimah has said.
Speaking at a higher education conference in London, Gyimah said that while he was “not really familiar with the detail of how the OfS is handling the registration process”, he accepted that there could be scope for change. HE has reported that the OfS has twice missed its own targets for registering a set number of providers.
“I’m sure there are a few bumps on the road for a number of new providers. I hear from large providers who feel they’re being asked questions that they shouldn’t be asked at all, and I hear from other providers saying it’s only tailored towards large providers and not them,” said Gyimah.
