University leaders in Scotland and Wales have expressed concern about how “ill-conceived” proposals set out in Philip Augar’s review into post-18 education could affect them.
Augar’s report was published to mixed reviews on 30 May, with many in higher education calling for a cast-iron guarantee that the government would top up universities’ funding if tuition fees are cut to £7,500 per year.
Although the review covered England, some higher education leaders from other countries of the UK said they were worried about how the recommendations could affect them if implemented.
