
The government has responded to a request by the Lords to set out how it plans to underwrite funding for students on an Erasmus+ exchange until 2020, but has stopped short of making promises for the next iteration of the programme.
Following guidance laid out on 8 April on funding for Erasmus+ after Brexit, the government has provided further details on its plans for European student exchanges in its response to a report from the Lords European Union home affairs sub-committee.
In the event of a no-deal Brexit, the UK government has said it will underwrite funding for students already studying in Europe and those who have agreed grants for Erasmus+ until 2020. It has not promised to fund exchanges in 2019-20 and beyond if a no-deal Brexit takes place.
