Hinds criticises ‘drastic’ differences in student outcomes

The education secretary has called on universities to address “stark disparities” in the outcomes of students who study similar courses at different institutions.

Commenting on longitudinal education data published on 26 June, Damian Hinds (pictured) said he was concerned that ostensibly similar courses can generate “drastically different outcomes and experience”.

“It cannot be right that students studying the same subjects at different institutions, and paying the same fees, are not getting the same positive outcomes, which are evidently achievable,” he said.
