Home Office stands firm on post-study visas

The Home Office has again appeared to rule out the reintroduction of a dedicated post-study work visa.

In a written parliamentary question on 15 January, Labour MP Jo Stevens asked ministers if there were “plans to review the option of introducing a post-study work visa allowing up to two years of work experience for international students in the UK”.

Responding to the question on 21 January, immigration minister Caroline Nokes said that the independent Migration Advisory Committee’s report on international students, published in September 2018, had “recommended against the introduction of a separate post-study work visa”.
