An education think tank has warned the government against cutting or varying student fees by institution or subject, as it would have a “regressive impact” on access.
The Education Policy Institute (EPI) has set out its advice for policymakers before the Augar review into post-18 education funding in England publishes its findings later this year.
In its report, published on 2 May, the think tank said that lowering tuition fees—widely believed to be a recommendation of the Augar review—would favour high-earning graduates as their total repayments would be reduced.
