Tech giants have ‘moral duty’ to stop essay mills, says Hinds

The UK government has urged PayPal to stop processing payments to essay mills and says that Google has already removed hundreds of online adverts for such services from its websites, including YouTube.

Making the first of what the Department for Education says will be a series of interventions across higher education, education secretary Damian Hinds said it was “unethical” for companies to profit from “this dishonest business which is exploiting young people”.

He said it was time to “stamp them out of our world-class higher education sector”.
