Universities rake in lion’s share of international education cash

Higher education sector generated more than £14 billion in income from overseas education in 2017

Universities in the UK generated £14.4 billion in revenue in 2017, up £1 billion on the previous year and accounting for two-thirds of the country’s overall income from education exports.

Data from the Department for Education show that higher education made up 67 per cent of the UK’s total revenue from education exports and transnational education (TNE) activity in 2017.
