Student database held by DfE ‘used for gambling firms’

Learning Record Service accessed by betting firms to verify ages of young people, claims newspaper

The Department of Education has disabled access to a key database on students, according to The Sunday Times, after the paper reported that gambling firms had used it verify ages and identities.

Since 2013 the Learning Record Service has collected the details of children above the age of 14 in England, Wales and Northern Ireland studying in state schools, private schools and colleges, assigning all students a unique ID number.
